The relationship between adolescents' permissiveness on moral transgressions and mental health

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between adolescents' degree of permissiveness on moral transgressions and their mental health. 191 adolescents of junior and senior high school from pusan were presented with 14
multifaceted
domains consisted of moral, conventional and personal transgressions. And their psychological symptoms were obtained by symptom Checklist-90-Revision.
Older adolescents(senior high schoolers) judged multifaceted events as personal and treated more permissible than younger adolescents(junior high schoolers). There were some disparities in their judgment between about story situation and
about
their own real situation; they judged more permissibly in their own cases than in story ones.
There were negative correlations between mental health and permisiveness on moral transgressions. This result indication that in adolescents' domain distinction some psycholgical symptoms, which were underestimated by cognitive
and
intuitive moral developmental theories, seem to be related.
